Minister Varney Sirleaf represents President Weah at International Peace Conference in South Korea

Monrovia, February 6, 2019: The Minister of Internal Affairs, Honorable Varney A. Sirleaf has departed Liberia for the South Korean capital Seoul, to attend the World Summit 2019 on Peace, Security and Human Development.

Minister Sirleaf is representing His Excellency George Manneh Weah who was invited to South Korea by the Universal Peace Federation to serve as special guest and Keynote speaker at this year’s World Summit which takes place February 9-13th.

A release from the Internal Affairs Ministry quotes the Universal Peace Federation as saying, the annual gathering of international representatives and leaders from around the world will open up new relationships and a great new deal for Africa and the world.

The organizers stressed that President Weah’s invitation was based on his efforts towards peace and development. They therefore believe President Weah is the best leader to work with in order to overcome critical challenges facing Africa including poverty, conflict, environment degradation, lack of adequate health care and proper education for boys and girls.

The Internal Affairs Minister leads the delegation from Liberia which comprises other officials of Government including Honorable Festus Logan, Executive Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission, LRRRC.
