Kakata, Margibi County, October 9, 2019: Stakeholders of Bong and Gbarpolu Counties are meeting in Kakata City, Margibi County for the purpose of finding an amicable resolution to a long-running boundary dispute between the two counties. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is convening the boundary harmonization dialogue

According to a release, members of the Board have met twice with the Executive Director of the Disaster Management Agency at which time they examined documentary evidence based on the allegations of irregularities which were reported recently. However, the Board members believe that GAC’s expertise is required as the supreme auditing body.

Monrovia, September 30, 2019: A 3-member high level Guinean Government delegation is in Liberia to sympathize with the Government and people of Liberia for the loss of 28 people who recently died in a fire incidence in Bassa Town Community, Paynesville City.

Meanwhile, Internal Affairs Minister Honorable Varney A. Sirleaf who received the Guinean delegation expressed thanks on behalf of President Weah. Minister Sirleaf described President Conde's decision to dispatch a high-powered delegation to Liberia as a reflection of true leadership and the friendship between the two sisterly countries.

An Internal Affairs Ministry press release said Mr. Frangieh made the disclosure Tuesday when he gave an overview of the purpose of their visit to Liberia at a meeting with Internal Affairs Minister Honorable Varney A. Sirleaf and team at the capitol offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The delegation to MIA was headed by Mr. Hamad Mohamed Al-Rumaihi, Minister Plani and head of the Central and West African Countries Section of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Al-Rumaihi said the mission is meeting with Ministries and Agencies which are critical to the socio-economic development of the country.

During the visit, Minister Sirleaf briefed the delegation on the critical needs of the Ministry, including support to Liberia Decentralization Support program (LDSP), the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and the Liberia Peacebuilding Office (PBO) among others. There were PowerPoint presentations highlighting the specific priority needs. He also emphasized the need for investments in agriculture. The Internal Affairs Minister commended President George Manneh Weah upon whose invitation the delegation is in Liberia, saying, the visit signifies the good bilateral relationship existing between Liberia and Qatar which is solidified by the high-level friendship between President Weah and his Qatari counterpart.

Internal Affairs Minister Honorable Varney A. Sirleaf and Acting Agriculture Minister Honorable Ernest J. Clarke signed for Government, while Madam Mariatou Njie, FAO’s Country Representative signed for her organization.

The Cabinet Sub-committee is mandated to link the NED Resolutions to the Government’s flagship development agenda, Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD). Meanwhile, President Weah requests the Subcommittees to meet every Tuesday and report to the full Cabinet on monthly basis.
