Government Assures Aggrieved Waterside Traders of Suitable Business Environment

Monrovia, March 31,2020: Aggrieved market people selling along the main streets in the area of Waterside in Monrovia have been assured of Government's determination of creating a suitable business environment for them.
 
Internal Affairs Minister Varney A. Sirleaf said Government will work with the leaderships of various groups selling in the area for construction of durable structures taking into consideration free flow of vehicular traffic, public safety and other measures.
 
Minister Sirleaf spoke Monday afternoon when he and other officials met with leaderships of the marketers few days after some makeshift market stalls were removed from the Waterside area by officers of the Monrovia City Police.
 
The Internal Affairs Minister told the aggrieved citizens that their concerns had reached the President who instructed him(Sirleaf) to arrange a meeting in order to find solutions to the problem.
The meeting held at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police was attended by Police Inspector-General Colonel Patrick Sudue and Presidential security Advisor Hon. Jefferson Karmoe.
 
Also present were Liberia Marketing Association, Petty Traders, among other groups.
