
Ebola cannot be eradicated without you; Health Minister Dr. Gwenigale rallies traditional chiefs
Gbarnga, Bong County: Health and Social Welfare Minister Dr. Walter Gwenigale said Ebola cannot be eradicated from Liberia without the efforts of traditional chiefs of the country.
Dr. Gwenigale described traditional chiefs of Liberia as a strong pillar of the country.
Dr. Gwanigale was speaking on Thursday, the second day of a weeklong consultative meeting on Ebola for chiefs and other traditional leaders, which took place in Gbarnga, Bong County.
The Liberian Health Minister urged chiefs attending the training to get involved and assist government sensitize people to desist from denial and other critical challenges arising from communities. He said many people became victims of the virus because of persistent denial and other misconceptions about the virus.
“We don’t want any more spread of this virus in our country; we can make it when we all join hands together”. The Health Minister rallied the participants.
His statement was contained in a power-point presentation on the role of the Health Ministry, Social mobilization, community engagements and role of traditional leaders in the current health crisis.
