As the count-down to 2013 July 26 Celebration draws down to weeks, Internal Affairs Minister calls for timely completion of Development Projects in Western Liberia.
Barely four weeks to Liberia’s Independence Day Celebration July 26, Internal Affairs Minister Morris M. Dukuly has called on all those involved in project implementation in Western Liberia to speedy up the work.
Minister Dukuly said he wants projects earmarked for the celebration completed in time for dedication.
The Internal Affairs Boss was speaking early this week, when he made his third assessment tour of the special projects in the three counties, selected by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to host this year’s Independence Day Celebrations. The counties are Bomi,GbarpoluandGrand Cape Mount.
The counties had earlier earmarked several development projects to form part of the July 26 festivities.
The Minister called on Contractors and county Superintendents to increase the number of days, time and resources where necessary for timely completion of their deliverables. He also encouraged residents to take ownership of those and all development projects, and get involved in activities outlined for the Day.
The projects include; construction/ renovation of public buildings like city halls, Guest Houses, Sport stadiums, Health Centers, roads, schools, electrification and cleaning of city streets, among others.
Notable among roads being built is the Bopolu-Belle Yallah road, which may be completed for Moto vehicles before the celebrations.
Other projects in Gbarpolu County are; construction of a 10-bed-room Presidential Guest House, Gbarmah Administration Building, lay-out & electrification of Bopolu city streets, Post Office, Cash Center, Police Depot in Henry Town, among others.
Projects in Grand Cape Mount include; construction 32-bed-room Health Center in Tewor District,Doctors’ Residence, Gender Office, bridges, electrification of Robertsport city streets, Sport stadium etc.
In Bomi County, several projects will be ready for dedication, including; Chiefs’Compound, Presidential Guest House, Superintendent’s Residence, Guest House in Klay, clinics in Besao and Golodee, and town-Halls in Gaya Hill, Gbaghon and Sass Town, respectively.
Others are: several major bridges, Gbar Market, Regional Office of WAEC and a Maternity Waiting House in Suehn Mecca.
