
High-power World Bank Delegation Visits Internal Affairs, Discusses Areas of Intervention
Deputy Internal Affairs Minister for Administration Hon. Varney Sirleaf has praised Liberia’s development partners for supporting its development drive.
Hon. Sirleaf made specific reference to the international financial body, The Work Bank.
He said the World Bank has made significant contributions to the country’s recovery process which cannot be forgotten, but called on the Bank to support Liberia’s Decentralization Program.
A release from the Ministry’s Press and Public Affairs Division said Hon. Sirleaf spoke Thursday, when a five-member high power delegation from the World Bank met with authorities of the Internal Affairs Ministry on Capitol Hill.
Also speaking, Deputy Minister for Research and Development Planning Hon. Tiah Nagbe outlined critical areas of intervention in the Decentralization policy, stressing the need for closed collaboration amongst all stakeholders.
Hon. Nagbe said collaboration will ensure smooth and successful implementation of the program which aims to take government the people.
Earlier, World Bank’s Specialist for Public Sector Reform and Capacity, Raymond Muhula said the team visited the Ministry to identify specific areas of intervention by the World Bank in Liberia’s development drive under supervision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In a related development, Deputy Minister Sirleaf and team on Thursday met with visiting UNDP Consultant, Professor Ngila Mwase.
Discussion was focused on the road map for implementing the Decentralization Policy which has reconciliation, peace, governance, transparency, accountability, capacity building, strengthening of Internal Audit, Monitoring and Evaluation amongst others as its components.
