Internal Affair Minister Dukuly cautions County Superintendents to stay out of Politics and do their work

Liberia’s Internal Affairs Minister, Hon. Morris M. Dukuly, is calling on County Superintendents to avoid politics in the discharge of their duties.

He said deep rooted political wrangling has stalled and hampered development in the past, and will continue to do so if the Superintendents do not desist and rather focus on their work as assigned to them by the President.

He admonished the county Administrators to resist any thing that will lead them to misapplication of monies allotted for development, whether from County or Social Development funds.

Minister Dukuly made the call Tuesday at a meeting with Superintendents of the five North-Central Counties in the Central regional city of Gbarnga, Bong County.

The counties include; RiverCess, Grand Bassa, Nimba, Lofa and Bong.

The forum, which was Minister Dukuly’s second regional meeting since taking over at Internal Affairs, was intended to provide opportunity for discussing programs y and strategizing measures to tackle present challenges. The first, held early June in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County brought together Superintendents of South-eastern counties namely; Sinoe, Maryland, Grand Kru, River Gee and Grand Gedeh.

At the one day strategic engagement meeting, the superintendents outlined several concerns, particularly in the areas of: Decentralization, farm-to-market-road, Peace building, boundary disputes, administration of development funds, staff empowerment, and logistics amongst others.

The Minister promised his fullest support and President Sirleaf’s commitment to develop the counties, but admonished the local leaders not to let politics stall progress.
