
Liberia Agriculture Companies Association donates Nimba mudslide community
Monrovia, February 26, 2019: Liberia Agriculture Companies Association (LACA) makes donation of assorted materials to disaster victims in Nimba County.
February 26, 2019, Monrovia-Liberia: A conglomerate of corporate entities under the banner of Liberia Association of Agricultural companies(LACA) today donated 250 bags of 25kg rice to the technical disaster response committee for onward presentation to the Mudslide disaster victims in Nimba County.
The Association includes Sime Darby, Golden Verolium, Liberia Agriculture Company, Maryland Oil Company and several others.
Making the donation on behalf of the group, in Monrovia, Mr. Henri Harmon, Executive Director of the secretariat, informed the committee that they have the capacity to employ over 40,000 young people in the country.
He said if the government can help grant more land to agricultural concessionaires operating in the country, the country's unemployment problems will be minimized.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the government, Honorable Varney Sirleaf, Minister of Internal Affairs thanked the organization and promised to work with the technical committee on the land right bill to help the operation of the companies.
He said the donations will be send to the National Disaster Management Agency for distribution to the victims.
