
Min Nelson calls for China’s intervention Liberia’s development phase
Internal Affairs Minister Blamoh Nelson has called for the Chinese government’s intervention in Liberia’s development drive.
Minster Nelson named several areas for possible intervention which are captured under government’s Decentralization Program including construction of Paramount chief Headquarters in the chiefdoms, Boundary Harmonization, Capacity building in training and logistics.
The Internal Affair ministry boss also named the rehabilitation and expansion of the Mount Coffee Hydro plant as well the Model Agricultural Community Projects (AGROCOM) in which China could assist.
An Internal Affairs ministry statement said Minister Nelson made the called when Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua at head of a four-member delegation paid him a courtesy call at his Capitol Hill office on Wednesday.
In responds, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua lauded the Liberian government for the cordial relationship with China.
He assured Minister Nelson of the Chinese government’s renewed commitment to supporting the country in its development phase.
Amb. Zhao also wants government to outline specific areas of need in which china’s support can be maximized.
He stress that government prioritize agriculture, encourage establishment of basic industries and labor intensive enterprises which will proved much-needed job opportunities for the people, particularly the youths.
The Ambassador called for completion of documentation for China Union to begin full operations in Liberia.
He said in addition to the seventy Liberians currently studying in China at various levels, forty-five scholarships are due this year, to be increased every year.
