National Disaster Relief Commission assists disaster victims donates 561 bundles of zinc in Bong and Lofa Counties.

 

The National Disaster Relief Commission, NDRC, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has given non-food relief items, particularly building materials to several storm and fire victims in Bong and Lofa Counties.

 

“Following a thorough review of disaster incidents and assessment in the two counties, the NDRC decided to focus its intervention on zinc and nails”. That’s according to Mrs. Louise Davis, Director of the NDRC Secretariat.

 

The NDRC donated 561 bundles of quality zinc and 365 boxes of zinc nails to a total 351 family heads.

 

About 2,275 persons are benefiting from the donation.

 

In Bong County, families in seven Districts including Salala, Suakoko, Yellequeh, Fuamah, Sanoyea, Zota, and Jorqulleh benefited from the NDRC intervention,

 

The items distributed to disaster victims were intended to assist the storm/fire victims reconstruct their severely damaged homes.

 

Another team was also in Lofa to donate the items several communities including areas in Zorzor, Voinjama, Lawalazu, Kolahun, Foya and Vahun districts.

 

Funding for the donation comes from support of the Economic Community of West Africa, ECOWAS.
